October 14, 2020 – Greenhouse construction
It
has been a while, dodging hurricane aftermath rains and running to doctor’s
appointments, and attempting to put up a pair of greenhouses before fall ends.
But, I am back again, blogging for you.
The
pair of greenhouses were supposed to be constructed last year, but that broken
right foot put me behind schedule – big time – as they say.
Each
8 x 6 foot greenhouse is a Harbor Freight kit and has the worst instructions
you’ve ever read. Thankfully I’ve
watched multiple videos that have assisted me in figuring it out, but so far,
the sliding door is elusive on the first one.
I am
dealing with a sloping location and my first hurdle was the foundation had to
be lifted on the north end in order to level it. Trust me, I have a handy man helping me, and
he has been cutting and tossing around the 4 x 4 as if they are toothpicks. I
am thankful for Big Mike.
Above
is the first glimpse after day two of greenhouse number one. There is lots to do to finish it up. But,
foundation number two will go in today even before the first one is completed.
The
Sheffield Pink Chrysanthemums are coming into bloom just now, a little pic for
your enjoyment below.
I have
had this variety since we moved here in 20+ years ago. It overwinters well and comes back easily
year after year as long as you move it around into fresh soil every other year.
And, I will leave you with a clever T-shirt from
an upscale book/writer’s catalog. It
made me chuckle – I hope it tickles you as well, as we are coming up on flu
season.
I
swallowed a whole dictionary.
Now
I have thesaurus
throat
ever.
