August 2, 2019 – Book review: Still Winning by
Charles Hurt
Doing
a bit of weeding and resting the foot – I don’t want to overdo - the much
anticipated book, “Still Winning” – Why America went all in on Donald Trump –
and Why we must do it again, author Charles Hurt arrived yesterday and I
inhaled it until the wee hours of the night and just now polished it off.
Quite
an interesting history lesson on how we got to this impasse in government.
Of
course, the book is written for Trump lovers – not Trump haters, but if you are
a fence sitter – I think you need to read it. If you are a deranged Trump hater
– maybe your conscience can nudge you into reading it to see the other side of
the situation.
Surprisingly
the book is not 100% Trump. It takes you
on a journey from the June 16, 2015 column penned by Charles Hunt for The
Washington Times who was one of the few journalists that “Got who Trump was and
what he was running on and for.” Charles
Hurt delves into how he sees Washington, the media, the elites, the politicians
and outlines it all in succinct bits of history of prior candidates, prior
presidencies and their failures. It
concludes with bits of an interview with President Donald J. Trump this spring.
It is
a refreshing history lesson that all Americans have lived through in the last
couple of decades and polishes up the reasons why Americans voted for the “See
the problem – solve the problem,” Trump businessman that was voted into the
Oval office.
Charles
Hurt is an incredible wordsmith. The
book is, fast moving, crisp and clear – I highly recommend this book – hot off
the press – First Edition, July 2019.
