January 6, 2020 – Collection of notes to share
with you.
I
admire interesting quotes and tidbits. Beginning of a new year, I am clearing
off my desk. Here are a few to embrace
or toss as you wish.
As soon as you put your feet on the floor in the
morning, say to yourself, “This is going to be a great day.” It is a small step that can make a big impact
in how happy and satisfied you feel in your life. [1]
All your troubles will disappear with Chanel No. 5
perfume on your neck. Well, they won’t.
But, your troubles will smell delicious. – Camilla Cabello, singer
Note: When
my Mom was working she didn’t drink much coffee, she didn’t smoke, so she took
a “perfume” break. Mom went to the ladies room, freshened up and rolled on some
“perfume” to give her a lift late afternoon.
Side benefit, she always smelled nice when Dad picked her up from work –
they carpooled most of her working career.
Make a “Chuck It” list: Don’t just have a bucket list, also create a “chuck
it” list of things you want to stop doing.
Free yourself of stuff you’ve always thought you must do, and focus on
what is important to you. [2]
Now that Christmas is over – let us look forward
to next year with a different way of giving gifts. Let us not tick off names on
a list – let us put some thought into it. “. . . let’s not lose the point of
gift-giving. Each present is an
affirmation between you and another person.
It doesn’t have to be expensive or mind blowing. People mostly want to be noticed, considered,
and valued. To know, “I am thinking of you, Here’s something you might enjoy.” [3]
“Remember . . . if you can’t say something nice .
. . say something sarcastic.”[4]
Or the alternative:
Bite your tongue!” My Mom used to coach me, “If
you can’t say something nice, say nothing at all . . .” “. . .you are going to
meet people who instantly love you and people who instantly hate you – take it
in stride.”
“Take my advice, I’m not using it.”

True forgiveness is when you can say,
Thank you
for that experience. – Oprah Winfrey
Love you to the Moon and Back!
A friend
is someone who reaches your hand
and touches your heart.
Faith is not knowing what the future holds –
but knowing
who holds the future.
